MESSAGE FROM THE WADA PRESIDENT

Picture Sir Craig ReedieDear Colleagues,

On behalf of the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), I am pleased to extend an invitation to WADA stakeholders for the Fifth World Conference on Doping in Sport, which will take place from 5-7 November 2019 in Katowice, Poland.

Organized with the generous support of the Ministry of Sport and Tourism of the Republic of Poland, the World Conference will convene representatives from the sport movement, public authorities and anti-doping organizations; along with, athletes, the media and other anti-doping experts to take stock of the evolution of Clean Sport; and, engage in high-level discussion and debate about the global fight against doping in sport.

The World Conference will focus on a revised version of the World Anti-Doping Code (Code); revised versions of several International Standards (Standards) along with two new Standards; and, the Anti-Doping Charter of Athlete Rights (Charter). In December 2017, WADA launched the 2021 Code Review Process, which also involves review of seven Standards and the Charter. This Review Process has, once again, allowed stakeholders to contribute to improvement of the World Anti-Doping Program; and, will culminate with presentation and endorsement of the proposed versions during the World Conference. Another major decision that will be taken during the Conference by WADA’s Foundation Board and Executive Committee will be the election of a new WADA President who will assume the role on 1 January 2020.

All of this and more will be discussed as WADA celebrates its 20th anniversary alongside its valued partners. On behalf of the WADA team, I look forward to welcoming many from around the world in Katowice as the Agency enters a new era for Clean Sport.

With best regards,

Sir Craig Reedie
